Sandra C. Medina

Version 3

I am a Ph.D. candidate and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. In 2015, I received an M.A in Spanish Literature and Culture from the same institution.  At Montclair State University, I began my literary studies, where I received my B.A in English and Spanish.

At Rutgers, I have taught in the Department of Latino and Caribbean Studies and the Comparative Literature Program at Rutgers University. This winter (Fall 2018), I will be teaching Intro to Latin American Studies in the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at Rutgers.

Through CLAS, I have been co-organizing the monthly series, “Jueves de cine,” which features award-winning films from Latin America, with the director of CLAS, Dr. Ulla Berg, with whom I also collaborated on her project “Documenting Latinx Lives.” I have also co-arranged the visit of important filmmakers, such as Colombian director Jorge Forero. Several other students and I re-launched the online literary magazine, Yzur, which features essays and creative work in English and Spanish.
